dc.description.abstractThis paper aims to assess the stakeholders’ strategies towards sustainable ecotourism, with specific focus on networks and public private partnership strategies. A survey involving tourism stakeholders (n=250) was conducted in the eastern and northern tourist circuits of Tanzania. Through binary logit modeling, relationship between various variables was analyzed by looking at the attributes associated with identified strategies. The study results show that despite the number of the stakeholder’s networks available, the level of their involvement in the management of ecotourism is still low. There is also statistical evidence showing that the extent of public private partnership in ecotourism activities is not so much clear and formalized. This leads to inadequate seriousness and sense of ownership among stakeholders especially community members and jeopardizes the development of ecotourism in the country. It is therefore authors’ opinion that there is greater potential of sustaining ecotourism in Tanzania if all stakeholders will be represented and collaborated via networks and public private partnerships.en_US
