The planning process in library automation is highlighted. Aspects such as setting objectives; assessing the existing system; evaluating options; writing specifications for the required system; resources; the human factor; and maintenance are considered. A note of caution is sounded to libraries intending to automate, particularly those in developing countries where resources are scarce.enAutomationDeveloping CountriesLibrariesSystems analysisPlanning the Automation of Libraries in Developing Countries: A Systems Analysis ApproachJournal Article10.1108/00242539010003920
